Introducing Ms. Suzy Schumer as our new Executive Director.

Suzanne M. Schumer replaces former Nancy T. Hector who has served as CHARLEE Interim CEO since September of 2007. Ms. Schumer comes to CHARLEE with a wealth of experience in child welfare with a specialized field in psychology. Formerly the Director of Clinical Services at PsychSolutions, Inc., in Coral Gables, FL, Ms. Schumer has been with PsychSolutions since 1993.

Ms. Schumer received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from University of South Florida and her Masters in Social Work at Barry University in Miami. She is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified trainer in motivational interviewing. She also completed a 250 hour course in Infant Mental Health. In addition to her extensive management and supervising experience, she has expertise in the mental health field specializing in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents.

During her graduate studies, Ms. Schumer worked for Metro-Dade County Department of Youth and Family Development and the Miami Children’s Hospital – Division of Psychiatry. Upon completing her Masters, Ms. Schumer served as a social worker at the Commission on Social Services – Child and Family Services Division in Washington D.C. Along with her case management experience, Ms. Schumer also served as a site clinician at Bertha Abess Children’s Center, Inc., in Miami, FL and most recently as Director of Clinical Services at PsychSolutions, Inc. Her position at CHARLEE will be her first Executive Director position for a foster care agency.

With over 15 years of experience, CHARLEE is thrilled to welcome Ms. Schumer in the leadership role of Executive Director as she will be a valued asset to the growth of the agency.
